Pelino Shuts Out Robert Morris in 3-0 Bentley Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Freshman goalie Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario/Chilliwack) posted his 1st career shutout with 28 saves, as Bentley University defeated Robert Morris 3-0 on Friday night in the opening game of the team's weekend series.

Pelino and the Falcons were in control throughout. Pelino made 10 saves in the 1st period, 11 saves in the 2nd frame and seven in the 3rd period to finish off the shutout, which was Bentley's first of the season as a team.

Sophomore Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc./Janesville) provided two of the goals, one in the 2nd period and the other in the 3rd, and defenseman Chris Buchanan (San Jose, Calif./Fargo) scored the other goal.

After a scoreless first period, Bentley struck the game's first goal at 5:03 of the 2nd period. Off a face-off win from Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill./Trail) in the offensive zone, Callin fired a wrist shot past RMU goalie Francis Marotte for his 6th goal of the season.

The Falcons then doubled their lead just 1:06 later off the stick of Buchanan, his 2nd goal of the season, with the assists going to Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn./Fairbanks) and Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec/West Kelowna).

Pelino continued to slam the door for the rest of the 2nd period and into the 3rd on the Colonials, who came into the game with the 2nd highest scoring offense in Atlantic Hockey at just over three goals a game.

Late in the 3rd period, Callin sealed the win with an empty net goal from center ice with 1:15 remaining.

With the victory, the Falcons improved to 9-10-4 in Atlantic Hockey games. They will look to complete the series sweep tomorrow, with start time set for 5:05.
