Bentley Tripped Up By Robert Morris 4-1

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Visiting Robert Morris scored two power play goals on its way to a 4-1 victory over Bentley University at the JAR on Saturday night, to earn a weekend split after the Falcons took Friday's series opener 4-3. It was the final game of the first half for the Falcons.

Robert Morris' first goal came on the second of two straight power plays that came nearly back to back. Bentley killed off the first one that began at the 12:12 mark, but 42 seconds into the second penalty, the Colonials cashed it in off the stick of left wing Timmy Moore for a 1-0 lead at the 14:57 mark.

RMU went up 2-0 just 1:48 into the 2nd period on a goal by Daniel Leavens. Right winger Ben Robillard then made it 3-0 with a power play goal at the 4:43 mark. A shot in front of the net by center Daniel Mantenuto took a deflection, and the puck bounced right to Robillard for the finish of the far post.

The score stayed 3-0 deep into the 3rd period, until sophomore Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc./Janesville) gave Bentley a lifeline with his 2nd goal of the season with 3:55 to go. The assists went to defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass./Jersey Hitmen) and Andrew McDonald (New Brighton, Minn./Fargo). Brassard put a slap shot on net that RMU goalie Andrew Pikul saved, but Callin was there on the doorstep to jam the rebound into the back of the net.

Bentley's goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) was pulled for an extra-attacker with 1:50 left as they tried to get closer, but the Colonials ended any hopes of a rally with an empty-net goal from Leavens with 15 seconds left.

The teams ended the night equal in shots on goal with 32 each. Argue made 28 saves and Pikul made 31 stops.

The Falcons will now be off for the next three weeks. They return to the ice on Dec. 30 at Vermont.
