WATERTOWN, Mass. – Senior Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) scored two 3^rd period goals to lift the Bentley University hockey team to a 4-3 victory over Atlantic Hockey rival Robert Morris on Friday night at the JAR.

French scored a power play goal at 1:46 of the 3^rd period to give Bentley a 3-1 lead. He also scored an empty-net goal from center-ice with 52 seconds remaining to give Bentley a 4-2 lead, a goal they would need as the Colonials scored with 31 seconds remaining to set up a tight finish. But Bentley closed it out to secure the 4-3 victory.

Bentley got on the scoreboard early as freshman Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn./Fairbanks) continued to get on the score sheet with his 3^rd goal in four games. French fed him a pass into the offensive zone and skated in on net, as Gorowsky put a shot on RMU goalie Francis Marotte that got through the traffic and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead just 3:51 into the game.

Later in the period, senior defenseman Mike Berry (Edmonton, Alberta/Sherwood Park) put Bentley up 2-0 with a slap shot blast from just inside the blue line with 3:59 remaining in the period.

RMU scored the only goal of the 2^nd period off the stick of left wing Matthew Graham at the 10:40 mark. Bentley's penalty kill was put to work in the 2^nd period, but they killed off all three Colonial power plays, and goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) made five saves during the three power plays.

A Robert Morris penalty with 15 seconds left in the 2^nd period, which carried over to the 3^rd period, turned out to be big as French got the power play goal. Defenseman Alexey Solovyev (Moscow, Russia/Lone Star) set the goal up with a slap shot rip from the blue line, and French tipped it past Marotte at the 1:46 mark to give Bentley a 3-1 lead.

The Colonials though fought back, and got a power play goal of their own from Brady Ferguson at 8:30 to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Bentley continued to hold its one goal lead, and looked to have the game on ice when French potted the empty-netter with just 52 seconds left for a 4-2 lead. RMU, however, quickly scored just 21 seconds later from Alex Bontje.

Bentley though was able to see out the final 31 seconds, even with RMU having the extra skater on with Marotte again on the bench.

With the win in the books, the Falcons will look for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon when the teams face-off at 4:05 pm.
