CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn./Fairbanks) and Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc./Sioux City) scored goals, but the Bentley University hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to 9th ranked Harvard on Saturday night at the Bright Hockey Center.

Harvard held a slim 35-34 advantage in shots, but only put the game away with an empty-net goal by center Sean Malone with 22 seconds left to lead 5-2.

The Crimson led 2-0 after the first period on goals by defenseman Adam Fox at 12:31 and right wing Lewis Zerter-Gossage at 17:44. The second goal by Zerter-Gossage came on a laser of wrist shot from near the goal that left Bentley goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) little chance.

Harvard notched another goal from first line left winger Ryan Donato on a wrap-around at 5:59 of the 2^nd period. Shortly after, Bentley had a 5-on-3 opportunity for 1:00 and created several good chances, but were denied by goalie Merrick Madsen.

However less than three minutes after the second Harvard penalty expired, Gorowsky got Bentley on the board with his first career goal. A shot from the point by defenseman Tanner Salsberry (Cypress, Texas/Jersey Hitmen) got the goal started. The shot was knocked down, and freshman Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill./Trail) got a touch over to Gorowsky, who batted in the rebound to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Harvard though would increase its lead back to three goals before the 2^nd period ended, on a power play goal by right wing Nathan Krusko off a bounce of the puck in front of the net.

Neither team would score for most of the 3^rd period, until Schmidt fired in a power play goal to make the score 4-2 with 2:34 remaining. Salsberry got the goal started again with a shot from the blue line, and Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) corralled the rebound. French then fed Schmidt inside the right face-off circle, who ripped a shot past Madsen.

Bentley went on the power play again with 1:49 left, and pulled Argue, who finished the night with 31 saves, shortly after for a 6-on-4 advantage, but Malone's empty-net goal sealed it.

The Falcons, who drop to 3-6-3 on the season, are back on the ice Friday night at Canisius.
