Bentley Places 22 Student-Athletes on Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley hockey team has placed 22 of its student-athletes on the 2015-16 Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team, the conference announced on Wednesday. Four players who recently graduated earned their 4th straight selection to the team.

To qualify for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better during both the fall and spring semesters.

Bentley's 22 selections from its team are the 3rd most in the 11 team Atlantic Hockey.

The four student-athletes who capped their careers with a 4th straight selection to the All-Academic team are forwards Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) and Tyler Krause (Kelowna, B.C./Okotoks), goalie Gabe Antoni (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) and defenseman Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region).

Four players made the team for a 3rd straight year; recent graduate Derek Bacon (Calgary, Alberta/Okotoks), junior forwards Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) and Tyler Deresky (Flemington, N.J./Amarillo) and defenseman Mike Berry (Edmonton, Alberta/Sherwood Park).

Recent graduate and assistant captain last season Billy Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass./Chicago Steel) was one of five players to earn a 2nd straight nod. He was joined by fellow blue liner Charlie Donners (Norwood, Mass./Dexter), sophomore goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) and sophomore forwards Andrew McDonald (New Brighton, Minn./Fargo) and Ryan McMurphy (Broken Arrow, Okla./Tri-City).

Sophomore Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc./Sioux City), the 5th leading scorer in Atlantic Hockey last season, was among eight Falcons to earn a spot on the All-Academic team for the first time. The others are sophomores Chris Buchanan (San Jose, Calif./Fargo) and Matt Sieckhaus (Fenton, Mo./Amarillo) and freshmen Jake Bryniarski (Rochester, N.Y./Bay State), Andy Chugg (Mesa, Ariz./Surrey Eagles), Cody DePourcq (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Vees), Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba/Portage), Danny Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa./Janesville Jets) and Alexey Solovyev (Moscow, Russia/Lone Star).
