Bentley Extends Unbeaten Streak in 4-1 Win over Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – Bentley extended its unbeaten streak to five and Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) also scored for the fifth straight game as they won at Mercyhurst 4-1 Friday night. Four different players scored.

With the win the Falcons are now 3-0-2 in their last five outings. Gladiuk now has a goal in five straight games and a seven game points streak. The Bentley goals also came from Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc./Sioux City) on the power play,  Jake Ahlgren (Fergus Falls, Minn./Wenatchee) and Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) with an empty net. Schmidt now has seven game scoring streak going as well.

The opening goal came from Schmidt on the power play at the 9:22 mark of the 1st period. It's the 5th straight game the team has scored a power play goal.

At nearly the same point of the 2nd period, Ahlgren's 6th goal of the season gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead. The Lakers though quickly responded with a goal a little over a minute later from Jonathan Charbonneau at 10:28. That cut Bentley's lead in half, but they didn't let the Lakers get any closer.

Gladiuk fired in his 14th goal of the season and to extend his streak at 10:42 of the 3rd period, and French added an empty net goal late on as Bentley secured the win. They improve to 9-9-4 in Atlantic Hockey contests with the victory.

Bentley outshot the Lakers 53-32, its highest shot total of the season. Sophomore Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) picked up the win in goal in making 31 saves.

The Falcons will go for the series sweep back at the Mercyhurst Ice Center tomorrow night.
