Antoni Records Shutout as Bentley Blanks AIC 1-0

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Senior goalie Gabe Antoni (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) posted his first career shutout with 30 saves, and senior Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) scored the only goal as Bentley got back in the win column with a 1-0 victory over AIC on Tuesday night in Atlantic Hockey action.

Gladiuk scored just 3:07 into the contest, and Antoni made it stand up the rest of the way as the Falcons improve to 6-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Atlantic Hockey play.

Antoni stopped 12 shots in the 3rd period, including three in the final 1:07 when AIC had goalie Alex Murray pulled and an extra-attacker on the ice. The senior also made 12 saves in the 1st period to earn his 3rd win of the season.

The Falcons got on the board early on the strength of Gladiuk's 6th goal of the season. After taking a pass from Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc./Sioux City), Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) fired a shot on net that Murray made a pad save on. The rebound though came to Gladiuk, who fired home from close range to give Bentley the lead.

The 2nd period didn't yield a goal, though Bentley owned a 14-6 advantage in shots. But the biggest moment occurred under two minutes into the period when a big hit in the corner boards by freshman center T.J. Dumonceaux (Kelowna, B.C./Vernon Vipers) caused one of the glass panes to break, delaying the game by 15 minutes while it was replaced.

After the delay, among Bentley's 14 shots in the period, the team's best chance came at the midway point of the period when Murray slid across the crease to deny Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc./Janesville) an open net.

The Yellow Jackets outshot Bentley 12-7 in the 3rd period, but Antoni and the Bentley defense held firm, as they record their first shutout of the season.

The Falcons get back on the ice on Friday night when they open a series at Niagara.
