WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) scored two goals in the third period to help Bentley rally from 2-0 down and earn a 2-2 draw with the Black Knights on Saturday afternoon at Tate Rink. The series shifts to Brooklyn tomorrow at the Barclays Center.
Bentley trailed 2-0 entering the 3rd period after goals in the 2nd period from Army's Clint Carlisle at 5:40 and Tipper Higgins at 16:35, but the efforts of French, playing in his first game this season, helped them earn a point.
On the power play a little over three minutes into the third period, Bentley took advantage as Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) and Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region) set up French for a one-timer from the point to cut the deficit to 2-1 at 4:02.
A little over three minutes later, French took advantage of an Army turnover in its own zone for a breakaway goal to knot the game at two.
Gladiuk had the best chance in overtime on a 3 on 2, only to have the play broken up by the Army defense with about 10 seconds remaining.
Falcons goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) made 31 saves as Bentley's record goes to 2-2-1 on the season.
