Bentley Hockey Releases 2015-16 Schedule; Three Non-Conference Games Set to be Played at Home

2015-16 Bentley Hockey Schedule

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley hockey team has released its slate of games for the 2015-16 season, and it features three non-conference games set to be played at home, as well as a game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The 34 game schedule will see the Falcons open at home on Oct. 9 against Mercyhurst.

As part of the schedule, Bentley will take on Army West Point on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, home of the New York Islanders, as part of the previously announced first ever BROOKLYN HOCKEY event.

The non-conference home games set to be played at Ryan Arena in Watertown will see Northeastern visit on Oct. 17 (as part of a home-and-home with the Huskies, with Bentley visiting Matthews Arena the night before), Merrimack coming to town on Nov. 4 and Rensselaer visiting on Nov. 20. Bentley last played Northeastern during the 2012-13 season, a 6-3 win, while they swept two games from RPI last season in Troy, N.Y. by scores of 5-2 and 4-0. The game with Merrimack will be just the second between the two programs at the Division I level.

The other two non-conference games will see the Falcons visit two traditional Hockey East powers in Boston University on Nov. 24 and the University of New Hampshire on Nov. 28. Bentley scored a memorable 4-1 win over the Terriers in its first trip to Agganis Arena during the 2013-14 season, while this will be the first ever meeting between Bentley and UNH.

The Falcons will open a season at home for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign when they host Mercyhurst in a two-game series starting Oct. 9, in what will be a rematch of last year's closely contest Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinal series the two teams played in March.

Other AHC series of note has Bentley visiting RIT, the defending conference champions, the weekend of Nov. 13 for its first games at the new Polisseni Center, which opened last season. The only two games against bitter rival Holy Cross are set for the weekend of Dec. 11 at Ryan Arena. To open the second half of the season, Bentley will travel to Air Force and Robert Morris on consecutive weekends, starting on Jan. 2 in Colorado. The regular season closes out the weekend of Feb. 26 with a home-and-home series against Army.
