Misiak’s OT Goal Sends Mercyhurst to Game One Win Over Bentley, 1-0

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Senior defenseman Ryan Misiak scored 4:46 into overtime to give Mercyhurst a 1-0 win over Bentley in game one of the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals Friday night.

Misiak broke the scoreless deadlock that lasted almost 65 minutes to give Mercyhurst the advantage in this best of three series. Defenseman Tyler Shiplo and Daniel Bahntge started a rush down the ice that saw Misiak gain the puck in the offensive zone. Misiak then wheeled through the left face-off circle and snapped off a wrist that found its way past Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) for the winning goal.

Bentley outshot the Lakers 40-28 but could not put one past goalie Brandon Wildung, who came up with all 40 saves. Argue made 27 stops for Bentley.

Prior to Misiak's goal Bentley had the best chance of overtime, only to miss high on an open net.

The game saw just one penalty called, on Mercyhurst for hooking at 3:48 of the second period.

The Falcons will look to keep their season alive on Saturday night in game two at Ryan Arena.
