Bentley-Army Tie Again as Argue Makes 33 Saves

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bentley and Army played to a second straight tie on Saturday night at Tate Rink, this time 2-2. Falcons goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) came up with several big saves among his 33 on the night, none bigger than with six seconds left in OT.

Argue denied a point-blank shot from Army's Connor Andrle in the slot just before the final whistle to preserve the tie. Bentley is now unbeaten in its last seven games (5-0-2) and its Atlantic Hockey record goes to 14-7-5. Army's conference record goes to 7-15-4.

Argue set the tone in the early going with a great save on a breakaway by freshman Tyler Pham and kept it going most of the night. He made 12 saves in the second period, nine each in the first and third frames and three in overtime.

Bentley grabbed a 1-0 lead at 7:16 of the first period on Andrew Gladiuk's (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) 18th goal of the season after he tipped in a shot from defenseman Matt Maher (Avon, Conn./Westside). Army though was able to tie it at 12:00 on a goal by defenseman Maurice Alvarez

The score stayed that way until the final minutes of the second period, when both teams struck just 51 seconds apart. A penalty on Army set the sequence up, but it was the Black Knights who scored shorthanded at 16:12 as freshman Nick DeCenzo finished off a 3-on-2 break down the ice for a shorthanded goal, off a nice pass from Pham.

Bentley though got the goal back as Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) fired in a shot from the point that got past Army goalie Parker Gahagen at 17:03.

That knotted the score 2-2, and neither team was able to find the back of the net the rest of the way.

The regular season now enters its final week, and Bentley begins it on Thursday with a road game at Sacred Heart.
