Bentley Extends Unbeaten Streak to Six with 1-1 Tie at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bentley and Army kick started their weekend Atlantic Hockey series with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Tate Rink Friday night that extended the Falcons' unbeaten streak to six (5-0-1). Sophomore Tyler Deresky (Flemington, N.J./Amarillo) had the goal and freshman goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) made 33 saves.

Bentley's Atlantic Hockey record goes to 14-7-4 with the draw, and they clinch a bye to the Atlantic Hockey quarterfinals with the result.

Deresky's goal came just 5:26 into the first period, off an assist from defenseman Kyle O'Brien (Tewksbury, Mass./Cushing). O'Brien's pass released Deresky into the offensive zone for a break down the ice, and he snapped off a wrist shot that went over the glove of Army goalie Parker Gahagen and in.

Army got the tying goal from forward Clint Carlisle at 11:59 of the second after a shot on the near post. Originally the play was ruled no-goal on the ice, but after a review the play was overturned and Army was awarded the goal.

Bentley preserved the tie at the end of the third period by killing off two Army power plays. The two overlapped to give the Black Knights a 5-on-3 opportunity for 38 seconds at one point, but Bentley killed it off.

In overtime, the Falcons went on the power play themselves with 1:51 remaining. They created the best chance of the extra-session as Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) had a near-side shot on net robbed by Gahagen, and the game eventually ended 1-1.

The two teams are back at it Saturday night at Tate Rink for the series finale. Face-off is set for 7:05.
