Bentley Tops Sacred Heart 3-1 for Fifth Straight Victory

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Bentley received third period goals from Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon) and Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove) to claim a 3-1 victory over visiting Sacred Heart Friday night at the JAR for the team's fifth straight victory.

Weinstein turned a 1-1 game in the third frame into a 2-1 Bentley lead at 12:00 with his fourth goal of the season as he rifled a shot from the point through traffic in front of the net and past Sacred Heart goalie Alex Vazzano.

Switzer then scored for the second time of the evening at 16:39 of the third, this time on the power play, to give the Falcons an insurance goal. After Switzer fed a pass to Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) on the blue line, Switzer drove to the net as Gladiuk put a shot on net. Switzer then got his stick on the puck to redirect it past Vazzano for the goal.

Prior to those two goals, the teams were locked in a tight 1-1 game. Bentley struck first at 15:49 of the opening period on Switzer's first goal, assisted by seniors Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside) and Matt Maher (Avon, Conn./Westside). Switzer put an initial shot on net from the left wing that was saved by Vazzano, but he followed his shot and knocked the rebound in for a 1-0 Bentley lead.

Sacred Heart tied it 1-1 at 11:01 of the second period on a goal by senior Drew George on a shot from in between the face-off circles in the offensive zone.

Falcons goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) made 30 saves to earn his seventh win of the season. Gladiuk and Maher each had two assists.

Bentley's five game winning streak is its longest since the 2008-09 season.

Off tomorrow, the Falcons return to the ice next Friday when they visit Army to open a two game series.
