PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Sophomore Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) scored the game's only goal with 4:26 left in the third period to break a scoreless tie to give the Bentley hockey team a 1-0 victory over No. 20 Robert Morris Saturday night at the 84 Lumber Arena.
French's goal, his 14th of the season, from line mates Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove) and Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) was the first goal of the night after more than 55 minutes of scoreless play, and gave Bentley a split of the weekend series with the first-place Colonials.
Freshman goalie Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) made 29 saves for his first career shutout.
The Falcons held a 34-29 advantage in shots. They outshot Robert Morris 14-10 in the first period and 13-9 in the third period.
Bentley improves to 8-5-2 in Atlantic Hockey with the victory, and Robert Morris drops to 10-3-3.
The Falcons are back in action next weekend when they visit Canisius for a series in Buffalo.
