French Claims Atlantic Hockey Offensive Player of the Week Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – After a big weekend against American International, Bentley sophomore center Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) was named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

French had a huge game in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets with a hand in all five goals. He scored one himself, the first of the game in the opening period, and assisted on the other four goals. French also had a goal in Saturday's 4-4 tie, giving six points in the two games.

His five points is the most by an Atlantic Hockey player in a game so far this season, and his four assists is the most by a Bentley player in a single game since captain Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside) had four against UConn during the 2011-12 season.

French will go into the break as one of the top scorers in the nation. He's fourth in points (24) and tied for third in goals (13), placing him just behind teammate Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo), who tops both categories.

It's the first time this season French has claimed the Offensive Player of the Week award, and it's the eighth time already this season a Bentley player has earned an Atlantic Hockey weekly award.

The Falcons closed out the first half on a 4-1-1 stretch, and go into the break with a 7-4-2 Atlantic Hockey record. That puts them in a tie for second with Holy Cross with 16 points.
