WATERTOWN, Mass. – Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) scored his third goal of the night with 33 seconds left in overtime as the Falcons battled back for a 5-4 victory over visiting Mercyhurst Saturday night at Ryan Arena.

The Falcons trailed 4-2 at one point in the second period, but rallied on two goals by Gladiuk and the tying goal by defenseman Chris Buchanan (San Jose, Calif./Fargo) in the third period to take three of four points from the Atlantic Hockey series.

Mercyhurst led 4-2 at 14:31 of the second period after right winger Kyle Dutra scored Mercyhurst's third  power play goal of the night and second of the second period. But Gladiuk's second goal of the game just over a minute later at 15:19 gave Bentley new life. Gladiuk beat Lakers goalie Spencer Bacon top shelf after taking a beautiful pass in front of the net by Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna).

The only goal of the third period came from Buchanan, the first of his career, at 4:17. After taking a pass along the boards from Alex Kubiak (Tinley Park, Ill./Chicago Steel), Buchanan blasted a slap shot from the point past Bacon to tie the game 4-4.

Bentley continued to pepper Bacon with shots throughout the period, to the tune of a 20-4 advantage, but they couldn't find the tying goal, sending the game to OT at 4-4 for the second straight night.

With time running low in the extra session, Gladiuk finished off his hat trick and gave Bentley the two points. Defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon) got the play started by rushing into the offensive zone and into the corner. He centered a pass to French, who got a touch on the puck to Gladiuk, who roofed his shot past Bacon on the near side for the winning goal.

The opening period saw three goals scored, two by Bentley, with each team striking on the power play. Senior Chris Bodo put the Lakers in front 1-0 at 8:40, just 29 seconds into a Bentley too men many on the ice penalty, after senior Matthew Zay found him in front of the net on the far post.

French though tied the game 1-1 at 16:00 with his ninth goal of the season. Buchanan chipped a puck into the zone that French got his stick on. French then beat Bacon to the glove side for the goal after driving in on net.

A power play goal by Gladiuk at 18:56 put the Falcons in front 2-1. Senior Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove) set the goal up with a pass from deep in the left corner to Gladiuk in the slot, who was left open. Gladiuk then one-timed his shot past Bacon.

Mercyhurst netted three straight goals in the second period, two of which were on the power play, to lead 4-2 at one point. First defenseman Tyler Shiplo scored on the man-advantage at 2:37 to tie the game 2-2, scoring on a wrist shot from just inside the blue line.

After fellow defenseman Grant Gettinger scored an even-strength goal at 6:30 to give Mercyhurst a 3-2 lead, Dutra's goal at 14:31 made it 4-2 for the Lakers.

Bentley improves to 3-2-1 in Atlantic Hockey play with the victory, while the Lakers drop to 3-2-1 in conference games. The Falcons' next game is Friday night at Harvard.
