Grieve Takes Part in New York Islanders' Development Camp
WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University rising senior Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) recently took part in the New York Islanders' NHL Development Camp as he prepares for the upcoming season.
Grieve was one of 15 NCAA players invited to the Islanders' annual Development Camp, which was held last week at the team's home arena at the Nassau Coliseum. Grieve is the third Falcon in two years to participate in an NHL Development Camp, after Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) camped with the Vancouver Canucks and recent graduate Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) was with the Ottawa Senators last summer.
Grieve has averaged better than a point per game through his first three seasons at Bentley, notching 112 points in 111 games. He's coming off a junior season where he put up a 25-22-47 scoring line, setting a new program Division I record for goals in a single-season. He finished the season tied for third in Atlantic Hockey in points and second in goals. Nationally, Grieve tied for 10th in points per game (1.27) and was sixth in goals.
Bentley will open its 2014-15 season when they visit Quinnipiac on Saturday, Oct. 11.
