WATERTOWN, Mass. – Freshman Tyler Deresky (Flemington, N.J./Amarillo Bulls) scored 2:18 into overtime to give the Bentley hockey team a wild 5-4 victory over visiting Army Saturday night in Atlantic Hockey play to sweep the weekend series.

A power play goal by sophomore Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) at 7:56 of the third period gave the Falcons a seemingly comfortable 4-1 cushion. However, Army scored three times in the final 7:45, including the equalizer by freshman Clint Carlisle with 56 seconds left with an extra-attacker on the ice, that made the score 4-4.

But Deresky came to the rescue in overtime with his second goal in as many nights. After Army pressured the Bentley net with a couple of good chances, the Falcons broke down the other end of the ice. The break created a shot for junior Alex Kubiak (Tinley Park, Ill./Chicago Steel) that was saved by Army goalie Parker Gahagen. Only Gahagen left a big rebound that Deresky struck into the back of the net for the winning goal.

The victory improves Bentley's Atlantic Hockey record to 14-5-4. They'll enter the second to last weekend of the regular season in second-place in the standings with 32 points, just two back of first-place Mercyhurst. The Black Knights fall to 3-20-0 in AHA play.

It was a tight 2-1 game after two periods, with the Falcons in front after sophomore Derek Bacon (Calgary, Alberta/Okotoks Oilers) scored a power play goal at 17:15 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie. That was Bentley's first of three power play goals on the night, and they went 3-6 overall.

In the third period, Bentley took advantage of a five-minute major penalty on Army with two goals by Gladiuk to take a 4-1 lead. The first goal came at 5:51 after a great cross-ice feed from the blue line by defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) to set the goal up. The assist was the 32^nd of the season for Weinstein, breaking the school's single-season record of 31.

Gladiuk struck again, this time in a 5-on-3 situation, at 7:56 on a similar play with Weinstein and defenseman Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region Chill) getting the assists, one of three on the evening for Blomquist.

Sophomore Joe Kozlak got the Black Knights to within 4-2 with a goal at the 12:15 mark. Army then used its special teams to stunningly tie the game in the final four minutes.

Kozlak scored again, this time on the power play, at 15:58 to make it a one-goal game at 4-3. Bentley then took a penalty at 17:43, and Gahagen was pulled in favor of the extra-attacker at 18:42 to create a 6-on-4 opportunity. Army took advantage after a Bentley turnover in its own zone as Carlisle scored at 19:04 to make it a 4-4 game.

Falcons goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) made 28 saves to earn his 16^th win of the season, while he also made his 50^th straight start in goal.

Bentley will go for its fourth straight win next Friday when they open a home-and-home series at Sacred Heart at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
