CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two goals by Harvard's Kyle Criscuolo helped the host Crimson to a 3-0 victory over the Bentley University hockey team in a non-conference matchup Saturday night at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.

Despite the Falcons holding a 43-39 advantage in shots over Harvard, they could not crack Harvard senior goalie Raphael Girard, who stopped every shot in shutting out Bentley for the second straight season.

Bentley senior goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) took the hard-luck defeat with 36 saves.  Komm suffered with another game of little goal support as Bentley scored one goal or less for the third time in four games.

After the teams skated to a scoreless draw in the opening period and the first 12-plus minutes of the second period, Harvard scored two goals just 13 seconds apart in the second frame.

Junior Tommy O'Regan got the first goal at 12:52. Freshman Sean Malone helped set the goal up with a drive down the right wing and centering a pass to O'Regan in the slot for the goal.

Harvard's second goal at 13:05 came off a Bentley turnover in the neutral zone. Criscuolo gained control of the puck after the turnover and blasted a slap shot that bounced off the glass and to the front of the net. Criscuolo got to the puck before Bentley could clear it and deposited the rebound to give Harvard a 2-0 lead.

As Girard continued to slam the door on the Bentley offense in the third period, Criscuolo put it away with his second of the night at 16:52 to make it 3-0. Center Alexander Kerfoot set the goal up, driving down the right wing and hitting Criscuolo as he cut down the slot and slid the puck under Komm.

The defeat drops Bentley's record to 1-5 on the season, while Harvard improves to 1-0 in winning its season-opener. The Falcons are back on the ice Friday night at Merrimack's Lawler Arena, with a game at Army in West Point the following night.
