BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Derek Bacon (Calgary, Alberta/Okotoks Oilers) and senior Brett Hartung (Tallahassee, Fla./Wichita Falls Wildcats) netted third period goals as Bentley University won on Northeastern's home ice for the second straight time, 6-3 on Saturday night at Matthews Arena.

Bentley surprised the Huskies with a 2-1 win in this building more than two years ago and the Falcons did it again, with more offense this time, for their first victory since Nov. 24. Junior goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) made 45 saves and Hartung had two goals.

With the game tied 3-3 in the third period after Northeastern rallied from 3-1 down, Bacon scored the tiebreaking goal at 7:27 to put the Falcons in front. Hartung then netted his second of the night at 10:51 to give the visitors a 5-3 lead. Defensemen Zach Marginsky (Auburn, N.Y./Syracuse Stars) scored an empty-net goal with 1:50 remaining, the first goal of his career, to put the game away.

After Bentley led 3-1 following two periods, Northeastern tied the game with two goals in the first 5:14 of the third. Cody Ferriero scored his second of the game just 53 seconds in, and Robbie Vrolyk tied the score at three just past the five minute mark.

But Bentley responded in strong fashion to take the lead for good. Bacon put them ahead at 7:27, tipping in a shot from Justin Breton (Fitchburg, Mass./Boston Jr. Bruins) in front of the net that came from the right corner.

Hartung then pushed the lead to 5-3 at 10:51. He won the puck from two Northeastern players in the far corner of Bentley's zone and found space to shoot in the left face-off circle. Hartung then got off a wrist shot that beat NU goalie Chris Rawlings to the glove side.

Northeastern grabbed an early 1-0 lead on Ferriero's first of the game 3:05 into the contest. But Bentley tied it up just over three minutes later on a goal by sophomore Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors), set up by junior Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms), who tallied his 17^th and 18^th assists of the season.

Jared Rickord (Skokie, Ill./Springfield Jr. Blues) got the play started by playing the puck from the corner to Gensler behind the net. Gensler then fed Grieve out in the slot, who beat Rawlings glove side with a wrist shot to tie the game.

After a slow start to the second period, no goals for the first 14-plus minutes, Bentley scored twice in the final five minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the final period.

Gensler set up his second of the night, with Hartung on the receiving end at 14:42, to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead. Gensler took the puck from the neutral zone into Bentley's offensive zone on the right wing, drawing two Northeastern defenders to him. As the second Husky closed in, he fired a cross-ice pass to Hartung and the senior one-timed it past Rawlings for the goal.

Breton then potted his eighth goal of the season with 54 seconds left in the period to give Bentley a 3-1 lead. Breton gathered the puck along the boards in Bentley's defensive zone and brought it himself into the offensive zone on the right wing. As the Husky defense closed in, Breton pulled a nifty move to get around defensemen Mike Gunn. He then put a backhander on net that hit Rawlings and bounced in.

Bentley improves to 7-9-1 overall with the victory, while Northeastern drops to 6-10-1. The Falcons return to Atlantic Hockey play next weekend when they face RIT in Rochester, N.Y., for a two-game series beginning Friday night.
