Bentley Posts Best Day 2 Performance in BrownGolf Tourney; Simione Ties for 2nd

JACKSON SPRINGS, N.C. – The Bentley University golf team turned in the best second-day score during the BrownGolf Intercollegiate, hosted by Indiana University (Pa.) at the  Foxfire Golf and Resort Saturday, and Falcon senior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) tied for second place in a 69-player field.

All five Falcons improved on their scores from day one, when the team, playing in the final groups of the day, had to deal with strong winds over the back nine and rain at the finish.

Coach Mickey Herron's squad improved on Friday's performance by 16 strokes with their 295 giving Bentley a two-day score of 606 and a third-place finish in the 14-team tournament. Wayne State (Mich.) captured team honors with a 588 and St. Thomas Aquinas was seven strokes better in second.

Simione shot a two-under second-round 70 and finished the tournament with a 74-70-144, four strokes off the winning pace. St. Thomas Aquinas' Shkelqim Kukaj posted his second straight 70 to claim medalist honors by four strokes.

Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS), also a senior, climb 23 spots in the standings and tied for seventh with a 77-74-151.

Junior Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) also played well Saturday and finished in a tie for 24th with an 80-77-157.             

Bentley will be back in North Carolina Apr. 1-2 for The Trojan golf tournament.
