Bentley Finishes Day 1 of Division II New Englands in 4th Place

BREWSTER, Mass. – With rain and high winds creating high scores, the Bentley University Falcons finished day one of the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Division II Championships fourth among six teams at the Captains Golf Course.

Bentley, with a score of 331, will begin Monday's final round 14 strokes back of first-place Assumption College. In between the Greyhounds and Falcons are Saint Anselm College (322) and American International College (327).

Bentley was led by sophomore Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS), whose five-over 77 put him in second place at the tournament's midpoint, two back of Assumption's Mark Bryant. Three players, including two from Saint Anselm, are tied for third after turning in 78's.

The Falcons' number two player, junior Mike Plansky (Danvers/Danvers HS), is tied for 18th in the 30-player field with an 84.

Bentley is the defending NEIGA Division II champion.
