Simione & Ethier Lead Bentley During Opening Round of Franklin Pierce Invitational

KEENE, N.H. – Led by senior co-captain Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and sophomore Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), the Bentley University golf team finished day one of the Franklin Pierce Invitational in fifth place Sunday at the Keene Country Club. The Falcons achieved a score of 310, 13 strokes off the pace.

Simione turned in a one-over-par 73, good for a three-way tie for second place and three strokes back of Assumption's Andrew Sanzaro, the leader in the clubhouse. Ethier also had a solid showing, posting a 75 in his season debut for a tie for eighth.

Bentley also received a 79 from junior Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS), which put him in a tie for 21st in the 60-player field.

When the second round gets underway Monday morning, Southern New Hampshire will have a lead of six strokes over second-place Franklin Pierce, 297-303. Assumption (305) and Post University (306) are also in front of the Falcons. A total of 11 teams are competing.
