Ethier Leads Bentley to 3rd Place Following Day 1 of Coaches’ Invitational

CROFTON, Md. – Led by freshman Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), the Bentley University golf team posted the third best team score during day one of the California University Coaches' Invitational at the Crofton Country Club on Monday. The two-day, 36-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday.

Bentley posted a 315 during its first day of competition this spring with coach Mickey Herron's team trailing only Division I Rider University (304) and California (Pa.) (309). A total of 13 institutions are participating, including Northeast-10 foes Franklin Pierce University (t-7th, 320) and Adelphi University (13th, 354).

Ethier turned in a three-over 75, good for a five-way tie for second place at the tourney's midpoint. Jake Sollon of Rider tops the leaderboard after carding a one-over 73.

Bentley also received a 76 from junior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and an 80 from senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS). Simione is tied for tenth place and Meyers is tied for 22nd.
