Meyers Named Northeast-10 Golfer of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – After closing out his fall season with both an individual and team championship, Bentley University senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.

Meyers captured the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Division II Championships, firing a 71-72-143 in the two-day event that concluded Monday at the Captains Course on Cape Cod. The tourney title was the third of his career.

His play also helped Bentley capture the NEIGA Division II team title for the fourth time in seven years with the Falcons winning by 15 strokes.

It was an outstanding fall for Meyers, who won the Northeast-10 Sport Excellence award for golf last spring as the conference's premier scholar-athlete in the sport. He achieved a 73.5 stroke average with only one round above 76, and that was a 77.

Also recognized by the conference this week, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, were sophomore Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) and freshman Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS).

After topping the leaderboard with a score of two-under at the midpoint, Falconer finished fourth with a 70-76-146. Ethier was right behind him, finishing in fifth with a 75-74-149.

Ethier led the Falcons this fall with a 72.8 average and Falconer's 74.8 was fourth best.
