LAKE CITY, Minn. – Junior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) led the Bentley University golf team during the opening round of the JR Watkins Invitational at The Jewel. Monday. The tournament will conclude Tuesday.

Simione turned in a three-over 75 and will begin second round action tied for 37th in a field of 124. Meyers followed with a 76, good for a tie for 44th.

The Falcons also received a six-over 78 from senior Brett Chatfield (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan HS).

As a team, Bentley's 310 was good for 14th place among 21 squads. Arkansas-Fort Smith is at the top of the leaderboard after turning in a sparkling four-under 284. Six strokes back, in second, is Minnesota State Mankato.

Seven players shot under par, including Parker Jennings (Arkansas-Fort Smith) and Brock Falley (Washburn), both with a three-under 69.
