Ethier Impresses as Bentley Takes 3rd in Penmen Fall Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. – Bentley University freshman Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) certainly made a mark for himself during his first tournament as a collegian with his efforts helping the Falcons finish third among 14 teams in the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Fall Invitational.

Playing on the par-69 Hanover Country Club course, Ethier followed up on his opening 68 with a second-round 69 Tuesday and finished the tournament with a one-under 137. That put him in a tie for second with St. Thomas Aquinas' Michael Miranda and two strokes back of the medalist, SNHU's Matt Paradis.

Also cracking the top 20 of the 81-player tournament for Bentley were senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) and a pair of juniors, Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS) and Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS).

Meyers tied for tenth with a three-over 70-71-141 and both Kulikowski and Simione tied for 18th, at four-over.  Kulikowski turned in a 70-73 in the two-day event and Simione posted a 72-71.

In the team standings, Bentley finished with a 280-284-564 to finish nine strokes back of host and championship Southern New Hampshire. St. Thomas Aquinas took second with a 558, three back of SNHU. The Falcons bested fourth-place Post University by two strokes and the fifth-place team, Dominican College, by four.

Bentley's next action is Monday and Tuesday when the Falcons will be in Lake City, Minn. for the J.R. Watkins Invitational.
