Bentley Finishes Day 1 of Division II New Englands Tied for 5th

BREWSTER, Mass. – On a windy Sunday afternoon at the Captains Course, the Bentley University Falcons struggled to a 325 team score and finished the opening day of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Division II Championships tied for fifth place in a nine-team field.

The championships will conclude Monday with Bentley 11 strokes out of the top three and 17 back of Southern New Hampshire, the leader after 18.

Junior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) and sophomore Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./ Cheshire HS) had Bentley's top scores during the opening round, finishing at 80 and 81, respectively. Meyers is tied for 17th and Simione is in a tie for 19th.

Saint Anselm's Tad Link is at the top of the leaderboard with his one-over-par 73 giving him a two-stroke lead over Taylor Simpson (Franklin Pierce) and John Clancy (Southern New Hampshire).
