Brunone Helps Bentley to 4th-Place Finish in St. Rose Fall Shootout

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Led by sophomore Jimmy Brunone (Plymouth, Mass./Tabor Academy), the Bentley University golf team finished fourth among 12 teams in the rain-shortened Saint Rose Fall Shootout at the Pinehaven Country Club Saturday. The tournament was reduced to 18 holes after Friday's round was rained out.

Bentley turned in a team score of 311 to finish behind Roberts Wesleyan (298), Southern New Hampshire (300) and Le Moyne College (306).

Brunone posted a 74 to tie for sixth place in the 66-player tournament. The other Falcons in the top 20 were seniors Tom Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) and Matt Frietag (Cheshire, Mass./ Hoosac Valley HS). Ayres tied for 14th with a 77 and Frietag tied for 19th following a 78.

Jake Nutter of Southern New Hampshire fired a three-under 68 to capture medalist honors by three strokes over both Nicholas Carter (Saint Anselm),  Joe Petrin (Le Moyne) and Thomas Kolb (Roberts Wesleyan).

The penultimate tournament of the fall for the Falcons is the Franklin Pierce Division II Fall Invitational Oct. 18-19 at the Bretwood Golf Club in Keene, N.H.
