Bentley Finishes 5th in Saint Rose Shootout

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – The Bentley University Falcons finished fifth in a 12-team field during the Saint Rose Fall Shootout, which concluded Saturday at the Pinehaven Country Club.

The Falcons climbed one place in the standings during the tournament's second day after turning in a 306, an improvement of 14 strokes over Friday's round, to finish at 626.

Bentley was led by junior Tommy Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS), who tied for tenth with a 78-76-154. Five of the six Falcons who played in the tournament shot 78 or better on Saturday with senior co-captain Quincy Coulter (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest HS) rebounding from an opening round 85 to shoot a team-best 75.

Freitag followed with a 78-78-156, tying for 17th place, and freshman Brett Chatfield (Attleboro/Bishop Feehan HS) posted an 80-77-157, tying for 23rd.

Southern New Hampshire, which had the top two individuals, captured the team score with a 303-304-607, besting runner-up Le Moyne College by a dozen strokes. Jake Nutter captured medalist honors with back-to-back 73s, defeating teammate John Clancy (72-75-147) by a single stroke.

Bentley will finish up the fall portion of the schedule Oct. 26-27 with the New Englands at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
