SHOREHAM, N.Y. – With junior Tommy Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) the team's top performer, the Bentley University Falcons concluded the Dowling September Shootout with a score 298-308-606, good for fifth place in the 12-team tournament.

All 12 teams saw their day two scores climb over Sunday's opening round, and only 16 of the 60 players had a better second-round score than first as high winds affected most of the field.

One of those 16 was Ayres, who climbed 14 places in the standings to tie for 12th place. He finished at 149 following a second-round 74 (+3). Next on the Bentley list was junior Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy), who climbed two spots into a 15th-place tie despite seeing his score rise by three strokes (74-77-151).

Senior Jon Stoddard (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS) was a stroke back, tying for 17th with a 72-80-152. Prior to the second-round 80, he had shot in the 70s in 26 consecutive collegiate rounds, a streak that started during the 2013 NCAA Division II Regional.

Le Moyne College (293-295-588) claimed the team championship by 11 strokes over Farmingdale State, and the co-medalists were Petter Lehmann (Dowling College) and Matthew Yun (Nyack College), both finishing with a one-under 141.

Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Friday and Saturday at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, N.H.
