Kirkpatrick & Ayres Selected for Academic All-Northeast-10 Honors in Golf

WALTHAM, Mass. – Two members of the Bentley University golf team, graduate student Harry Kirkpatrick (Lancaster) and rising junior Tommy Ayres (Bolton), are among the five student-athletes selected for the 2013-14 Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference golf team. Both are graduates of Nashoba High School.

Kirkpatrick, the team's captain, posted a career-best 78.4 stroke average while playing a team-high 25.5 rounds. He shot in the 70's 14 times with a low of 73 three times (Central Connecticut Blue Devil Fall Invitational, Dominican Charger Invitational and the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional).

At the Regionals, he tied for 38th overall (76-76-73) and was 13th among NE-10 players. His resume included 18th at the conference championships last fall and a second-place showing in the 2011 NE-10 championships. Now pursuing a Masters in Accountancy after completing his undergraduate work with a 3.60 GPA as a corporate finance and accounting major, he previously was named to the 2012 Academic All-NE-10 team.

Ayres, in 15 rounds, registered an 80.2 stroke average with a low of 75 in the opening round of the AIC Spring Classic. Last fall, he was tenth among Division II golfers and tied for 45th overall at the New England Championships. His year also included eighth in the AIC Spring Classic and tenth in the Saint Rose Fall Shootout.

Ayres, who majors in both economics-finance and liberal studies, has earned a 3.58 GPA.

Bentley finished second in the Northeast-10 Championships, sixth in the New Englands and sixth in the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional.
