ONSET, Mass. – Led by senior Matt Michel (Danvers/Danvers HS), the Bentley University golf team finished second of nine teams in the 36-hole Cape Cod Classic that it hosted Saturday at the Bay Pointe Club.

Bentley, with a team score of 301-313-614, finished six strokes back of team champion American International College (296-312-608) and edged out number three UMass-Lowell (304-311-615) by a single stroke.

Michel, the leader at the tournament's midpoint, tied for second with a 36-hole score of 71-78-149, two strokes off the winning pace set by UMass-Lowell's Sylvain Debiais (73-74-147). Also shooting a 149 was Julio Gonzalez of American International with a 74-75.

Bentley also received solid play from senior Dan McQueen (Topsfield/Masconomet Reg. HS) and freshmen Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/ Lincoln Academy) and Sal Visali (West Barnstable/Barnstable HS). Oliver tied for eighth with 76-77-153, McQueen shared 12th place (76-79-155) and Visali tied for 16th (78-79-157). A total of 45 golfers participated in the tournament.

The next action for the Falcons is the Peter King Memorial at Long Island National in Riverhead, N.Y. Friday and Saturday
