WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Northampton Williston School) established career-highs with 28 points and five blocks, and also had 11 rebounds, as the Bentley University Falcons battled back for a 74-71 win over Molloy College in non-conference men's basketball Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center.

There was a 27-point swing, 42-15, in this one before Bentley (3-0) survived a late Lion charge to stay unbeaten on the season.

After trailing by as many as 13 in the first half and by 11 three minutes into the second half, Bentley embarked on a 33-9 run to go up 63-50. The surge began with Hudson scoring six, including two on a fast-break dunk, as the Falcons closed to within two at 45-43.

Following a Molloy basket, Bentley continued with eight unanswered, a run that produced the first Falcon lead since about the 15 minute mark of the first half. Sophomore Adria Amabilino Perez (Barcelona, Spain) got it started with a three-ball from the right wing. Junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) hit a step-back jumper for the lead and senior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School) followed with a triple.

Molloy interrupted the run with one of eight three-pointers by senior guard Nick Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.), a basket with 11:11 left that would be the Lions' last points for about five-and-a-half minutes. While the visitors were stuck on 50 points, Bentley's point total grew from 51 to 63 on the strength of a 12-0 burst.

Hudson had six of the 12 and sophomore guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) scored four during the surge.

After a Mello-Klein three-ball pushed it to 66-52 with 5:22 left, Molloy went on a 14-2 run and made it a one-possession game three times in the final 100 seconds. Corbett did it each time, with two threes from well behind the arc, the second with 25.9 seconds left, and a driving lay-up sandwiched in between.

Stankiewicz (seven points) restored it to a three-point differential with two free throws with 10.1 seconds. The ball went back to Corbett, who was eight of 14 from deep at the time, but his last attempt, for the tie, was off the mark.

Bentley struggled throughout the first half, scoring only 26 points while shooting just 23.7 percent overall and misfiring on 16 of 19 three-point attempts. A 9-0 advantage in second-chance points helped keep the Falcons relatively close.

Hudson made 11 of 18 shots while the rest of his teammates were just 16 of 56 overall.

Webb and Mello-Klein were the Falcons' other double-figure scorers, finishing with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Mello-Klein also helped out with four rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Corbett totaled 34 points for the Lions as he made 13 of 23 shots overall.

For the game, Molloy (0-3) had the advantage in field goal percentage (.414-.365), three-pointers (10-7) and rebounds (47-43). Bentley was able to pull out the victory with a 19-8 edge  in second-chance points, ten more free throws (13-3) and only six turnovers, as compared to 14 for the Lions.

Bentley's next game will be its road contest of the season, Wednesday at Bridgeport.
