Bentley Places 3 on NABC Honors Court & Earns Team Academic Excellence Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three members of the Bentley University men's basketball team, including All-America and recent graduate Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate), were named to the NABC Honors Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches for amassing a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher through the 2018-19 academic year.

In addition to Richmond, a second-time selection, Bentley's honorees were rising seniors Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton) and Nick Murray (Littleton/Littleton HS).

Coach Jay Lawson's team also received a Team Academic Excellence Award for the fifth time in six years. Those are presented for compiling a team GPA of 3.0 or better for the academic year.

Bentley, coming off a 19-10 season, was one of only two Northeast-10 Conference teams to receive the Team Excellence Award, a distinction it shared with Pace University.

Richmond, one of only two Division II players nationally to earn both NABC All-America and Google Cloud Academic All-America honors this past season, finished his career as the number three scorer in program history with 2,081 points. He led Bentley in scoring for the third straight year, putting up 23 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game.

Hudson was among the conference's premier rebounders, collecting 8.2 a game while also averaging 14.4 points. He shot over 50 percent from the field and led the team in blocked shots (24).

Murray, in his first Bentley season, appeared in three games off the bench for the Falcons.

All three student-athletes have finance as their major.
