Richmond Named Finalist for Northeast-10 Man of the Year

WALTHAM, Mass. – Former Bentley University men's basketball standout Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate), who finished his career in March as the number three scorer in program history, has been named one of three finalists for the Northeast-10 Conference Man of the Year Award.

The other finalists were Southern New Hampshire University tennis player Tiago Fernandez and Stonehill College track and cross country runner Alexander Demeule.

The NE10 Man of the Year will be announced on Monday, June 3 when the conference holds its annual awards banquet at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Richmond was one of only two men's basketball players nationally to be selected as both a Division II All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and as a Google Cloud Academic All-America® by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Richmond, who led the Falcons to a 19-10 record this past season, finished his career with 2,081 points after averaging at least 22 points a game during his final three seasons. The Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Award recipient for men's basketball is the first player in Bentley history to score at least 600 points in a season three times.

As a senior, Richmond averaged 23 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.03 steals while playing 37.5 minutes a game. He shot .468 overall, made 40 percent of his three-point attempts and connected on 89 percent of his free throws (171 of 192).

Richmond scored at least 25 eleven times, including 44 points against American International Jan. 16. That was the most ever scored by a Falcon in the Dana Center and only one shy of the school record he set at Adelphi as a sophomore.

Off the court, Richmond has given his time to the Waltham Boys and Girls Club, the Framingham Food Pantry, Dreams to Reality and "You're With Us", where he interacted with a special needs high school student, including him in basketball activities and creating a friendship.
