Richmond Selected for Google Cloud Academic All-America Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./ Thomson Collegiate), who finished his illustrious career as the third leading scorer in program history, has been selected for the 2019 NCAA Division II Google Cloud Academic All-America® second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Richmond led the Northeast-10 Conference in scoring with his 23.0 scoring average second in school history, trailing only the 23.6 he posted as a junior. He is the only player in Bentley annals to achieve three 600-point seasons and averaged over 22 points a game during each of his final three seasons.

Richmond, who was previously voted to the All-Northeast-10 first team, amassed 2,081 points in 108 games as a Falcon, only 37 shy of the record. His career scoring average, 19.3, was the most ever for a four-year player at Bentley, and he also ranks in the top three in program history in scoring average, free throws made and attempted (479/567), field goals attempted (1513) and free throw percentage (.845).

Richmond averaged a Bentley record 37.5 minutes this season and totaled 667 points, fourth most in school history, while helping the Falcons post a 19-10 record.

In addition to excelling on the court, Richmond also impressed in the classroom, achieving a 3.41 GPA as a finance major at one of the nation's premier business universities.

Richmond is the fifth Bentley men's basketball to earn Academic All-America honors, following in the footsteps of Keegan Hyland (2015, 2016), Tyler McFarland (2016), Joe Betley (1978, 1979, 1980) and Jim Fuerst (1973).
