Multiple Honors for Richmond, including Google Cloud Academic All-District

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight year, Bentley University senior guard and Northeast-10 Conference scoring leader Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate HS) has been selected for the Google Cloud Division II Academic All-District 1 Men's Basketball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

District 1 includes those student-athletes competing in the Northeast-10 Conference, the East Coast Conference and the Central Atlantic Athletic Conference.

By virtue of earning All-District honors, Richmond will advance to the national ballot for the selection of the Google Cloud Academic All-America team.

Richmond was also recognized as one of the top 50 candidates nationwide for the 2018-19 Bevo Francis Award, which is presented to the top men's small college basketball player. It takes into consideration Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes.

He's one of three Northeast-10 players on the 50-player watch list with the others being Tim Guers (Saint Anselm) and Juvaris Hayes (Merrimack).

It's been another standout season for Richmond, who has also distinguished himself in the classroom by achieving a 3.41 grade point average as a finance major. After averaging 22.6 points as a sophomore and a school-record 23.6 last year, he's producing 24.1 a game this winter while helping the Falcons to an 18-8 record.

One of six active Division II players with over 2,000 career points, Richmond's season has included 44 points against American International and 25 or more 11 times. The most recent came Wednesday night at St. Michael's when he put up 26 in a 77-74 victory.

With 2,041 points, Richmond ranks fourth on Bentley's all-time scoring list and needs 28 to surpass Jason Westrol '10 for third place. He is 77 away from Academic All-America Tyler McFarland's school record of 2,118.

Bentley's next game is Saturday afternoon (3 pm) at Merrimack College.
