WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate) has been named the USBWA Division II Men's Basketball National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association for his outstanding performance last week.

In a split of Northeast-10 Conference games, Richmond scored a season-high 44 points in the Falcons' 87-79 win over American International and added 33 points in a 92-80 loss to New Haven. His 44-point effort was the most ever scored by a Bentley player in the 46-year history of Bentley's Dana Center, and it was a season-best in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Richmond shot 62 percent (26-for-42) from the field for the week, including 50 percent (9-for-18) from three-point range, and made 16 of 17 free throws. In addition to 38.5 points per game, he also averaged 3.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals, and he committed only one turnover in 79 minutes of action. During his 44-point performance, he hit 16-of-24 overall including 6-of-10 three-pointers.

Richmond, who moved to fourth on Bentley's all-time scoring list, was previously recognized as the Northeast-10 Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Richmond, who averaged a school record 23.6 points last year, is currently first in the NE10 and is 13th in Division II with a 22.9 per game average. Among active Division II players, he is fifth in career points with 1,849 and sixth in both field goals and free throws.

Richmond is the third NE10 player to earn the award this season, following Saint Anselm's Tim Guers (Dec. 4) and Southern Connecticut's Isaiah McLeod (Dec. 11).

Richmond and McLeod should both be on the court Saturday when the 15-4 and 24th-ranked Falcons are in New Haven, Conn. to face Southern Connecticut State.
