Richmond Named NE10 Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second time this season and the third time in his career, Bentley University senior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate) has been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Richmond was also named to the Bevo Francis Award 100-player watch list by Small College Basketball as one of the top small college players in the country. It considers men's basketball players from NCAA Division II and III institutions, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.

It was an incredible offensive week for Richmond as he averaged 38.5 points for the 15-3 Falcons while shooting 62 percent overall (26-42), 50 percent from three-point land (9-18) and 94 percent from the free throw stripe (16-17).

Richmond scored 44 points in a win over American International, the most ever scored by a Falcon in the 46-year history of the Dana Center, and followed that effort with 33 points, including 24 in the first half, against New Haven. The 44 points was just one shy of his career-high and was a season-best in the conference.

Richmond also averaged three assists, 2.5 rebounds and two steals while committing only one turnover in 79 minutes of action.

Richmond, who moved to fourth on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,833 points, leads the NE10 and is tenth in Division II in scoring with a 23.3 average. Only six players in all of Division II have made more free throws than the Falcon guard, who averages 6.2 a game and is shooting .888 from the line.

On February 15, SCB will publish the next Watch List with 50 players. The list will be narrowed down to 25 players in a Watch List published on March 15. The finalists will be announced in a highlight video that will be released on April 6.

The 2019 Bevo Francis Award winner will be announced on April 8. The award will be presented to the award winner on May 11 at the SCB National Awards Show in conjunction with the SCB Alumni Association's Celebration of the Game event at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
