WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School) hit 10 of 13 shots for 22 points and senior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate) followed with 18 as the Bentley University Falcons bounced back from their first loss of the season to defeat The College of Saint Rose, 80-63, in non-conference men's basketball action Monday night at the Dana Center.

Bentley, ranked 14th in Division II last week, shot in the mid-sixties for most of the night before finishing at 57 percent. It was the sixth time this season the 9-1 Falcons have made better than half their shots from the field.

Coach Jay Lawson's team wasted no time in establishing control as they made their first seven shots to open a 19-8 lead five minutes into the game. After Saint Rose (4-6) scored the game's first two points, senior forward Zach Gilpin (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) hit an elbow jumper, Hudson made a lay-up and Richmond knocked down a fall-away jumper on the base line.

Following the Golden Knights' second basket of the evening, Bentley ran off eight straight, including three-pointers by sophomore guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) and Hudson.

A triple from sophomore guard Colton Lawrence (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO HS) and another Hudson lay-up made it a 19-8 game.

By the time the first-half clock hit 9:38, Bentley was 12 of 16 from the floor, five of seven from downtown and had a 33-16 lead.

The opening half ended with Bentley on top 49-31 on the strength of 11 points from Hudson, ten from Mello-Klein and nine points and seven assists from Richmond. Six different Falcons connected from three and the Falcons had a .667 shooting percentage.

Saint Rose never challenged in the second half and the lead hit 25 a couple times, including 72-47 with 9:15 to play after a Richmond lay-up. At that juncture, the Falcons were shooting a sizzling .692, 27 of 39.

Hudson, in addition to his hot shooting, provided seven rebounds, two steals and a block. Richmond complemented his 18 markers with seven assists, no turnovers, eight fouls drawn and a team-best +22.

Mello-Klein, four of five from field with a pair of threes, was Bentley's other double-figure scorer with 11 points. Lawrence scored eight and Gilpin had seven.

Sophomore guard Adam Anderson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) led Saint Rose with 15 points on six-of-ten shooting.

Overall, Bentley shot .569 and hit 10 of 24 from deep. Saint Rose also had a good shooting night, finishing at .500 overall and 8 of 18 from three. The Falcons also had the advantage in rebounds (28-26) turnovers (8-13) and points off turns (15-5).

The next game for the Falcons is a week from Wednesday on Long Island at NYIT.
