Hyland Double-Finalist for Pair of Major Northeast-10 Awards

WALTHAM, Mass. – Former Bentley University men's basketball standout Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) has been announced as a finalist for a pair of major Northeast-10 Conference awards, NE-10 Man of the Year and NE-10 Outstanding Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The award winners will be announced on Monday night, June 6, when the conference holds its annual banquet at the Providence Hilton.

Finalists for Man of the Year, in addition to Hyland, are soccer players Julio Leon Garcia (Merrimack) and John Paul DiTommaso (New Haven). For the Scholar-Athlete Award, the other finalists are Stonehill football player Anthony Mascucci and Southern New Hampshire soccer player Jonathan Lupinelli.

Hyland, a two-time first-team Academic All-America honoree, totaled 1,373 points during his three years wearing a Bentley uniform after overcoming several years of injuries. His career scoring mark of 17.8 points per game is the fifth highest in program history and he also averaged 6.7 rebounds and three assists in 77 games.

This past season, Hyland earned second-team Division II All-East Region honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches after averaging 20.4 points and 7.2 rebounds while helping the Falcons reach the NCAA tournament and capture the Northeast Division of the Northeast-10. The two-time All-Conference selection also led the 21-9 team in assists (100), steals (36) and field goal percentage (.505).
