GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Down 11 at the break, Bentley University used sizzling shooting from three in the second half to rally for its ninth win in its last 11 games, 75-67 over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Wednesday evening at the Center of Recreation and Sports.

A quartet of double-figure scorers for the Falcons was headed by junior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS), who scored 14 of his 17 after intermission and also had ten rebounds and three of the team's six blocks. The double-double was his sixth of the season and 19th of his career.

Senior guard Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) followed with 16 points and five assists, junior guard Alex Furness (Wells, Maine/Wells HS) tallied 14 and senior guard JP Koury (Red Bank, N.J./CBA) added 13 to the Falcon attack.

After outscoring the Panthers 48-29 after intermission, Bentley left the court at 10-6 overall and tied for fifth in the conference's Northeast Division at 5-5. Adelphi, which led by as many as 13 in the first half, fell to 4-11 overall and 1-8 in the conference.

Bentley had trouble getting untracked from the start, managing only four points on its first 15 possessions to fall behind 17-4 a little more than nine minutes into the game. That slow start saw the Falcons misfire on seven of nine shots, including several lay-ups, and commit six turnovers.

Seven would be as close as Bentley would come during the remainder of the half with the Adelphi offense featuring four three-pointers, in only five attempts, by junior guard Anthony Libroia (Bayside, N.Y.). He cooled off significantly in the second, missing all three of his shots from deep.

Bentley, which still trailed by 10 with under 16 to play, turned things around 15-4 spurt during a span of a little more than six minutes. That run featured a three by senior forward Andrew Shaw (Saco, Maine/Thorton Academy) to make it a four-point game, a Koury triple that put the Falcons within three at 52-49 and four points from junior forward Shaq Phelps (Linden, N.J./Linden HS), the last two on a tip-in that gave the Falcons their first lead, 53-52 with 9:30 left.

After Adelphi temporarily regained the lead with five straight points, Hyland and Shaw connected from deep to return the lead to the visitors, 59-57. Following a long jumper by Panther senior forward Duane Morgan (West Orange, N.J.) to tie the game, Hyland nailed a straightaway three to put Bentley in front to stay and launch a clinching 12-2 run.

In addition to the four players who scored in doubles, Bentley received nine points, two blocks and six rebounds, five coming at the offensive end, from Phelps.

Libroia led all scorers with 19 points and Morgan followed with 15, along with seven rebounds.

Bentley outshot the Panthers 54-36 percent in the second half and 46-42 percent overall. The Falcons were also more effective from three (11-23 to AU's 8-21) and were a plus-nine on the glass, 37-28. That rebound advantage helped produce a 13-point difference in second-chance points, 15-2.

Bentley's next two are at home, beginning Saturday at 3:30 pm against 11-3 American International.
