Bentley Places Two on NABC Honors Court; Team Also Recognized for Academic Success

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University rising senior Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/ South Portland HS) and recent Bentley graduate DJ Guillette (Lunenburg/Lunenburg HS), a pair of finance majors, were named to the 2013-14 NABC Honors Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The Honors Court recognizes those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.

A record 895 student-athletes from 338 colleges and universities earned the distinction. Requirements include being a junior or senior academically and having a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

Bentley was also honored with an NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Coach Jay Lawson's club was one of only 21 Division II programs in the country to earn the honor.

Hyland, in his first year of collegiate game action, gave the Falcons 12.4 points and 5.6 rebounds a game, primarily in the sixth-man role. A member of the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference team, he started the final five games, a stretch in which he produced 19 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists a contest.

Guillette, a four-year walk-on, appeared in 31 games for Bentley during his career, including eight during his senior season when he averaged 2.5 points. His most memorable game as a Falcon came Nov. 28, 2012 when he helped Bentley rally to an overtime win at St. Michael's while posting career high totals in points (9), rebounds (4) and assists (2).

Bentley finished the 2013-14 season with an 18-11 record.
