More than 100 former players, managers, trainers and coaches turned out at the Dana Center recently for a celebration the first 50 years of men's basketball at Bentley University.

The Bentley University community and men’s basketball program is mourning the sudden passing of men’s basketball player Joe Glynn (Abington/Cardinal Spellman HS). Glynn, who completed his freshman year at Bentley last month, collapsed Monday evening while playing in the Watertown Summer Basketball League. He was later pronounced dead at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.

Bentley Men's Basketball to Host 50th Year Reunion

The 2012-13 season marked the 50th year of men’s basketball at Bentley University. That’s 50 teams, with an all-time roster of 247 players and 32 coaches, that have produced the sixth highest all-time winning percentage in Division II history. On Saturday, June 8, the program will celebrate this unique milestone by hosting the First Fifty Years of Bentley Basketball Reunion.

Freshman forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS) scored 29 points, the third time in the last 17 days he’s set a new career-high, and collected a career-best 14 rebounds as Bentley University made it a season-ending four-game winning streak with an 81-70 victory over UMass-Lowell in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Senior forward Jasper Grassa (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical HS) scored a career-high 30 points and helped the Bentley University men’s basketball team close with an 11-5 run in the final minute as the Falcons knocked Franklin Pierce University, the 23rd-ranked team in Division II, out of a tie for first place in Northeast-10 Conference, 66-60, Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse.

No program in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball history has won more regular season titles than the Bentley University Falcons. They have nine all-time, including six since 2005. The Falcons won’t win a tenth this season but on Wednesday night, they can have an impact on who does earn the championship. Bentley, coming off a 23-point win over Southern New Hampshire, will be playing a 7:30 pm contest at Franklin Pierce University, which enters the final nine days and three games of the regular season even at the top of the standings with Saint Anselm College.
