WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior guard Sam Leclerc (Fayette, Maine/Winthrop HS) has been selected for the 2012 All Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball first team by the conference's head coaches.

Leclerc enters the conference playoffs as the only player in the conference with at least 50 three-pointers, a number he exceeds by20, and 75 free throws. He's fourth in the NE-10 in both three-pointers and three-point accuracy, fifth in both free throws made and free throw percentage, seventh in scoring and minutes, and tenth in total rebounds.

Leclerc's 15.4 scoring average is nearly double the 7.8 he posted a year ago in his first Bentley season after transferring from Bryant Universtiy. He's had five 20-point games this season, with a high of 30 against Southern Connecticut State, and three double-doubles.  One of those came Feb. 14 against NE-10 regular season co-champ Franklin Pierce when he collected a career-best 15 rebounds.

Leclerc was joined on the All-Conference first team by Merrimack guard Wayne Mack, St. Michael's guard Michael Holton, Jr., and a pair of Franklin Pierce players, forward Ellis Cooper and guard Eric Jean-Guillaume, the NE-10 Player of the Year.

Shaw,  who has spent most of the season coming off the bench before starting the last two games, is the first Bentley freshman to average in double figures since Sean Wood back in the 1987-88 season.  He is currently averaging 21 minutes, 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 three-pointers per game.

Shaw, the third highest scoring player in the Northeast-10 amongst those who have started fewer  than ten games, is sixth in the NE-10 in three-point accuracy (.438) and seventh in three-pointers made, with 57. He's come off the bench to score in doubles 13 times, with a high of 20 at Le Moyne, and has had 18 games with at least two three-balls.

Bentley opens the Northeast-10 playoffs tonight with a 7 pm home game against Assumption.
