WALTHAM, Mass. – After winning its last two contests to secure a berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Championships for the second straight year, the sixth-seeded Bentley University Falcons will face third-seeded Southern New Hampshire University at SNHU's Larkin Field Tuesday afternoon at 4 pm. The game can be viewed over the NE10 NOW digital network.

Tuesday's winner will advance to the semifinals, against the winner of the Adelphi University-Saint Thomas Aquinas game. The championship game will be played Sunday with the highest remaining seed the host.

Five of the conference's top nine goal scorers, including Bentley senior Rachel Crowley (Leicester/Notre Dame Acad.) and Southern New Hampshire senior Laura van der Doorn, will be in action, as well as four of the six NE10 players with at least 29 points.

Crowley, who had three goals in two games last week, and van der Doorn are two of the three NE10 players who have scored a conference-high 14 goals this season. SNHU's Lisa Hagel and Hélène Servais follow with 13 and 12, respectively, and Bentley senior Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS) has 11. Anderson has totaled 30 goals over the last two seasons.

Servais leads the conference in both assists (11) and points (35) with van der Doorn following with 32 points. Crowley is the NE10's fourth 30-point scorer and Anderson trails her by one with 29.

Bentley coach Jessica Spencer will take a veteran team to SNHU with her usual starters including eight seasons.

Expected starters in goal are sophomore Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS) for Bentley and graduate student Melanie Rennie for the Penmen. Vogel has a 2.22 goals against average and a stretch of 123 consecutive scoreless minutes. Rennie has a 0.86 GAA with four shutouts.

The two squads last met at Bentley Oct. 9 with SNHU returning to New Hampshire with a 2-1 win in a game that saw all three goals scored in the first 11:01.

Bentley, 9-9 overall, has enjoyed most of its 2019 success on the road, winning seven of nine, including five straight, away from Waltham. SNHU, 15-3, has won nine in a row and averages 3.36 goals.
