PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Keally Ingersoll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge HS) broke a 1-1 tie 31 seconds into the fourth quarter and the Bentley University field hockey team went on to edge Pace University, 2-1, in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Finnerty Field.
Ingersoll's unassisted goal was her second of the season and second career game-winner. She received a pass, eluded the goalie and slid the ball into the cage.
The game's other two goals were scored about two minutes apart late in the second quarter. All-Conference senior Tess Anderson (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) found the back of the net for Bentley with 2:12 left until halftime, the goal her sixth of the year and 28th career.
Pace freshman Cienna Bosher (Blackwood, N.J.) netted the equalizer with only five seconds remaining on the first-half clock.
Bentley sophomore Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS) was credited with three saves.
The Falcons, 4-6 overall and 3-5 NE10, more than tripled the Setters in shots, 19-6, but the home team had an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners. The loss was the seventh in eight games for Pace (1-6 NE10).
On Wednesday, Bentley will host nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire at 7 pm.
