Goals by Anderson & Ingersoll Propel Bentley Past St. Michael’s, 2-1

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Second-half goals from juniors Tess Anderson (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) and Keally Ingersoll (Elliicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge HS) lifted Bentley University to a 2-1 road win over St. Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at rainy and cold Duffy Field.

The victory in the Falcons' regular season finale gave Bentley its first 11-win season since 2013. With records of 11-7 overall and 7-6 conference, coach Jessica Spencer's team is currently in eighth place but will have to wait a week until the NE10 tournament seedings are set.

Anderson opened the game's scoring 5:29 into the second half with her 18th goal coming off a cross from senior Niki Neidhart (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS). It ranks third in the NE10 and is the most by a Bentley player since Mary Rogers in 2005. Her 41 points ranks ninth on the program's all-time single season list.

Ingersoll made it a 2-0 game with 18 minutes to play as she knocked in a rebound for her third of the year.

Five minutes later, the Bentley shutout bid was denied by St. Michael's sophomore Shelagh Fluharty (Fitchburg, Mass.), whose third of the season made it a one-goal game at 2-1.

Bentley's only save was recorded by senior Jana Mones (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS), who played the first half before giving way to freshman Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS).

Bentley outshot the Purple Knights (2-13, 2-9 NE10) 11-5 and was awarded six of the game's ten penalty corners.
