Two 2nd-Half Goals Lift Saint Anselm Past Bentley, 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Despite a team-leading 17th goal from junior forward Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS), the Bentley University Falcons dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Wednesday evening.

Anderson, now tied for third in the conference in scoring, had created a 1-1 tie with 66 seconds left in the first half. It was one of only four shots for the Falcons who saw the Hawks attempt 13.

Saint Anselm (10-5, 7-3 NE10) reclaimed the lead 3:13 into the second on the fifth goal of the season by junior Michelle Lemelin (Chelsea, Maine). The visitors picked up an insurance goal with about 15 minutes left with freshman Carly LaCasse putting the ball in the net for the seventh time this season.

Sophomore Julia Hand (Reading) earned the win in net for the Hawks but was not credited with any saves. Freshman Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS), the current NE10 Goalie and Rookie of the Week, made seven saves for the Falcons.

The loss in the final home game of 2018 dropped Bentley into a tie for eighth place in the conference at 10-7 overall and 6-6 NE10.

Bentley will wrap up the regular season Saturday afternoon at St. Michael's College.
